# Agricultural Machinery Hydraulics to Reach USD 10.27 Billion by 2033 as a 13% Fall in Machine Sales Moves Revenue Off the Factory Floor — Pheonix Research

## Pheonix Research sizes the layer at USD 6.9 billion and separates the two pools that move in opposite directions

**LONDON, 23 October 2026** — The global market for hydraulics content in agricultural machinery is valued at **USD 6.9 billion in 2025** and is forecast to reach **USD 10.27 billion by 2033**, a compound annual growth rate of **5.10 per cent**, according to a new report published today by Pheonix Research. The layer represents **16.12 per cent** of the [USD 42.8 billion global hydraulics market](https://www.pheonixresearch.com/manufacturing-industrial-automation/machinery/market-report/global-hydraulics-market/), making agriculture the second-largest mobile hydraulics end use after construction equipment.

The report is published under a new Pheonix segment, [Fluid Power & Hydraulics](https://www.pheonixresearch.com/manufacturing-industrial-automation/fluid-power-hydraulics/), within the [Manufacturing & Industrial Automation](https://www.pheonixresearch.com/manufacturing-industrial-automation/) industry, and is available in full at [pheonixresearch.com](https://www.pheonixresearch.com/manufacturing-industrial-automation/fluid-power-hydraulics/market-report/global-agricultural-machinery-hydraulics-market/).

## The two numbers that prompted the study are one fact, not two

The report was commissioned against a specific pair of observations in the Brazilian market: a **13 per cent fall in domestic agricultural machine sales** alongside a **48 per cent rise in the value of imported machines**. Read separately, they describe a collapsing market. Read together, they describe a market being re-sourced.

Pheonix models both on a common index with 2025 equal to 100. Domestic machine sales fall to **87.0**; imported machine value rises to **148.0**. On a 30 per cent starting import share, the combined machine pool — imported plus domestic value — comes out at **105.3**, or **5.3 per cent larger** than the year before. The import share climbs from 30 per cent to **42.17 per cent**.

What happens next is the analytical point of the report. Hydraulic consumption divides into **original equipment content**, built into a machine at the factory and therefore travelling with the factory when sourcing moves, and **aftermarket content**, consumed over the service life of a machine wherever that machine actually works. Weighting the pool 55 per cent to OE and 45 per cent to aftermarket, the locally addressable hydraulic pool falls to **93.3** — **6.7 per cent smaller** — even as the machine pool it serves is 5.3 per cent larger.

 | Index, 2025 = 100 | | Value |

 | Domestic machine sales (−13%) | | 87.0 |

 | Imported machine value (+48%) | | 148.0 |

 | Total machine pool at 30% import share | | 105.3 (+5.3%) |

 | Import share after the shift | | 42.17% (from 30%) |

 | Locally addressable hydraulics pool (55% OE / 45% aftermarket) | | 93.3 (−6.7%) |

 | Divergence between the two pools | | 12 points |

That twelve-point gap is the commercial content of the report. "A supplier reading minus thirteen per cent and cutting Brazilian capacity is reading the wrong half of its own order book," said the report's author. "The factory moved. The field did not."

## Value outruns volume by two points, and that gap is an assumption stated openly

Machine-equivalent volume rises from **1,022,222 units in 2025 to 1,298,521 in 2033**, a CAGR of **3.04 per cent** — an addition of **276,299 machine-equivalent sets** across the window. Hydraulic content per machine rises from **USD 6,750 to USD 7,909**, a CAGR of **2.00 per cent** and a total increase of **17.17 per cent**. A 200 horsepower row-crop tractor retailing at roughly USD 150,000 carries about USD 6,750 of hydraulic content at 4.5 per cent of machine value, split approximately USD 4,050 in the original equipment build and USD 2,700 over the service life.

The 2.06-point spread between value growth and volume growth is the forecast's central judgement: content per machine escalates even when unit volumes do not. It is disclosed as an assumption rather than presented as a measurement.

## Three paths from the same base

Pheonix frames three outcomes from the 2025 base of USD 6.9 billion. A downcycle that extends and an electrification wave that reaches the utility tractor class produces **USD 9.16 billion at 3.6 per cent**. The base case produces **USD 10.27 billion at 5.10 per cent**. Aftermarket coverage and higher content per machine compounding together produce **USD 11.33 billion at 6.4 per cent** — a spread of **23.69 per cent** between the bear and bull paths.

## Structure: eight tier-1 suppliers beneath three machine makers

The layer is moderately consolidated, with **eight tier-1 suppliers** holding a majority of relevant mobile hydraulics revenue beneath a machine market dominated by [John Deere](https://www.deere.com/en-us), [CNH](https://www.cnh.com/) and [AGCO](https://www.agcocorp.com/). The supplier side mixes diversified groups carrying hydraulics as one division — [Bosch Rexroth](https://www.boschrexroth.com/en/dc/) among them — with specialists carrying it as the entire company, such as [HYDAC](https://www.hydac.com/). Bargaining power sits with the OEM on commodity cylinders and hose, and with the supplier on the load-sensing pump, the electrohydraulic control unit and the implement-to-tractor software layer.

## The recommended response is coverage, not capacity

The report argues that the response to a sourcing shift is aftermarket coverage: dealer stock positioned against the installed base rather than against the sales forecast, exchange and remanufacture programmes that convert a wear part into a service event, hose assembly capacity close to the field, and supply relationships with the local operations of the import brands — the only original equipment channel that grows when imports grow. The risk the report names explicitly is the opposite response: reading the machine headline and cutting capacity in the one pool that import competition cannot take away.

## Scope: a nested layer, not a competing estimate

This report sizes hydraulic content only, and states in its methodology that it nests inside existing Pheonix coverage rather than competing with it. The [global hydraulics report](https://www.pheonixresearch.com/manufacturing-industrial-automation/machinery/market-report/global-hydraulics-market/) sizes the whole USD 42.8 billion layer across all end uses; the [Latin America agriculture equipment report](https://www.pheonixresearch.com/manufacturing-industrial-automation/machinery/market-report/latin-america-agriculture-equipment-market/) sizes the machines themselves; the [electric tractor report](https://www.pheonixresearch.com/agriculture-agritech/precision-farming/market-report/global-electric-tractor-market/) covers the substitution threat; and the [agricultural tyres report](https://www.pheonixresearch.com/automotive-transportation/off-highway-specialty-tyres/market-report/global-agricultural-tyres-market/) covers the other consumable that follows the installed base.

## Method and limits, published rather than buried

**The two prompting figures could not be verified against a primary source.** The Brazilian machinery association returned HTTP 403, the manufacturers' association served a JavaScript shell with no retrievable text, and the official import statistics portal returned HTTP 403. The report therefore treats −13 per cent and +48 per cent as the stated premise, says so in both the market overview and the basis of estimate, and exposes every assumption in the decomposition — the 30 per cent starting import share, the 55/45 OE-to-aftermarket split, and the flat aftermarket index — so that a reader holding better data can substitute it.

**The 16.12 per cent share of the parent market is a judgement, not a disclosure.** At a 13 per cent share the base year is **USD 5.56 billion**; at 19 per cent it is **USD 8.13 billion**. That sensitivity band is printed in the report. The growth rate is materially more robust than the level.

**Wikidata's resolver returned HTTP 403** during production, so the new segment's structured Wikidata mappings are empty. The two company identifiers used — Bosch Rexroth and Parker Hannifin — were read from Pheonix's own entity registry rather than from a live lookup.
