Blood glucose test strips are made from fabric that is embedded with electrodes, sensors, and enzymes. Test strips are thin strips of paper or plastic that help monitor blood sugar levels and manage symptoms of diabetes. Test strips are made up of several layers. The top layer consists of a small sponge to absorb the blood sample. The middle layer functions as a filter to guide the blood sample to the reaction center. The next layer is made up of an enzyme that reacts to blood sugar. Finally, the bottom layer contains an electrical circuit covered with gold and palladium to transfer the reactive electrons to the counter for analysis.
