The US ultra-high-purity hydrochloric acid market is USD 15.83 million in 2025 and USD 37.40 million by 2033. It is local not because of freight but because the acid is a byproduct of chlorine disposal and a certificate decays with distance — and local means the Gulf Coast, not the fab.

Brazil lost 12.9 per cent of its fixed lines in a year, to the lowest count since 1998. Cloud switchboard seats rose 2.5 times over the forecast. The two facts are compatible: the trunk stopped being copper, and the market's growth is coming from firms that were never in the fixed-line base at all.

Brazil's feed market added three million tonnes in 2026. Broiler rations took 1.25 million of it and got the headlines. But the fastest-growing species in 2025 was dairy cattle — 0.56 million tonnes against beef's 0.54 — and that lead more than halves in 2026. Two segments of almost identical size, running on completely different clocks.

Under one decree, autoparts imports from covered origins fell 39.5% and plastics fell 9.6%. The 4.11x gap is not enforcement — it is whether a domestic alternative exists. Mexico imported 78.26% of its chemicals in 2025 and its petrochemical capacity fell 35.9%, so the tariff can re-price supply long before it can replace it.

Brazil has 38 GW of data centre grid connection requests and 1,000 MW of capacity actually running. The distance between those two numbers is not doubt about demand — it is the length of a transmission line, and the seven years it takes to build one.

A 13% fall in Brazilian machine sales and a 48% rise in imported machine value are not one story told twice. On a common index the machine pool grows 5.3% in value while the locally addressable hydraulics pool falls 6.7% — a twelve-point divergence that moves revenue from the factory floor to the field, and punishes the supplier who reads only the headline.

The optics industry earns USD 8.55 a year for every person living with vision impairment, against a USD 411 billion annual productivity loss it captures 4.57 per cent of. That mismatch — not demand, not pricing — is what actually sets the growth path of a USD 18.8 billion layer heading to USD 30.5 billion by 2033.

In 2026 fixed-lens camera bodies grow 13.6% while interchangeable-lens bodies fall 2.6% — the first opposite-direction year in CIPA's series. But 55.88% of Japanese shipments are fixed-lens against 25.67% everywhere else, and used prices rising on discontinued compacts say the growth is rationed supply, not a new demand curve. The 2033 forecast prices a ceiling.

Every account of Europe's hotel miniature ban ends with the same reassurance: the product does not disappear, it moves into a refill. The reassurance survives until you divide. A 300-millilitre refill holds ten times a 30-millilitre miniature, so 2.70 billion packs become 270 million refills carrying the same 80.9 million litres — and a business paid per pack loses 90 per cent of its units while its product volume does not move at all.

Nineteen Caribbean jurisdictions each wrote their own rule about a shopping bag between 2013 and 2020. Four are still outside the regime, and one of those four is the only place in CARICOM that actually makes refuse bags. That is why the region's USD 27.14 million trash bag market is protected by a tariff rather than by a cost advantage — and why its real risk is a millimetre, not a policy.

Brazil supplies 47% of the vanadium pentoxide America imports and 6.4% of the world's mined supply. The gap between those two numbers is one mine in Bahia holding 80.06% of the country's output — and a forecast whose terminal price never reaches that mine's all-in cost.

A brine field costs USD 7,222 per square kilometre to cover. An underground mine costs USD 110,000. Per user, the same two sites invert: USD 2,600 against USD 942.86. Both numbers are correct, and which one a business case uses decides whether Argentina's next mine looks impossible or obvious.

The 25 ppb and 250 ppb PFAS limits measure what a producer added. The 50 ppm total-fluorine limit measures what is already in the recycled fibre they bought — and 42 per cent of Europe's barrier-bearing fibre pool is made from it. Why the constraint is analytical, not chemical.

Uji's 2026 auction sold 595 tonnes of tencha and 9.4 of them were hand-picked. The tier that carries matcha's entire premium narrative is 1.6 per cent of its own market — and the price rise everyone is quoting doesn't reconcile to any published series.

Ley 30884 moved roughly 14,050 tonnes out of expanded polystyrene between 2020 and 2022 — 19.6 per cent of today's pool — and that transfer is finished. What compounds instead is a clamshell worth 62 per cent more per tonne and an industry so cheap to enter that the law can deliver volume but never margin.

Decanter's estimate is that two-thirds of the glass bottles used for US wine production are made in China and shipped across the Pacific before filling. A container of 18,000 empty bottles carries 9.9 tonnes of glass and no wine — and Verallia is closing furnaces in France, Germany and the UK.

A 40ft container holds 18,000 bottles at today's 550g average and is weight-limited at 693g. Above that, every 100 grams costs about a thousand bottles of capacity — 11.6 per cent of the load at 900g. Lightweighting to 420g saves 2,340 kg and not one bottle of space.

The CRT certified 408.0 million litres of tequila exports in 2025 and the agriculture ministry counted 397.1 million on a customs basis — a 10.9 million litre gap explained largely by the 23.64 per cent that leaves Mexico in bulk. The payload is elsewhere: mixto is the more export-dependent half of the category.
